Biography
Jong-Beom Jeong is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering in Kunsan National University (KSNU) in Gunsan, South Korea. Prior to joining KSNU in 2025, he was a postdoctoral research fellow (Post-Doc.) at the Media Coding Research Section at Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Daejeon, South Korea, from Feb. 2025 to Aug. 2025. From Aug. 2021 to Jan. 2022, he was a visiting student at the Smart Machine and Robotics Technology Laboratory (SMART Lab.) at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. From Jan. 2020 to Mar. 2020, he was a visiting student at the AlloSphere Laboratory at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), Santa Barbara, California, USA.
His research interests include AI-based media representation, particularly MPEG Gaussian splat coding (GSC) for immersive media.
He received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering (Major) and Business Administration (Minor) from Gachon University in 2018, and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science Education from Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) in 2025. He is a member of IEEE and ACM.
